Course Description |
|
The course is a flat & fast, taking runners along Fredericton's scenic "Rails-to-Trails" network following the St. John and Nashwaak Rivers. The Start (& Finish) line is on Aberdeen Street on the block between Church and St. John streets; in front of the wading pool and playground in Queen Square Park. The route proceeds west along Aberdeen Street to St. John Street. It then turns left (south) onto St. John Street to McLeod Ave. At McLeod, runners will turn left (east) along the south side of Queen Square until Church Street. At this point, still on McLeod Street, the route veers to the right (south) and proceeds up the street and turn left (east) onto the trail. Once on the trail, runners will once again turn left (north) onto the main trail which will take them over the St John River and out towards Marysville. The 10K runners will turn on the trail near Kaine Street and return to Queen Square via the same route to Aberdeen Street. At Aberdeen Street the route turns right (west) along Aberdeen Street, past the intersection with Church Street, to the finish line in front of Queen Square.Runners in the 5km and 3km events shall follow the same course, in part, as the 10K. The 5K runners will turn just beyond the Community Trail Office in Devon, while the 3K runners will perform two loops of Queens Square Park and the section of trail between McLeod and Aberdeen Streets. |
